Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

“American Character: A Photographic Journey” Launch Event, New York

Lucy Liu has swapped her black YSL Trib Two’s, for a grey suede pair, which we saw Victoria Beckham wear recently.

Lucy’s grey heels worked with the feathered details on her Rachel Roy Fall 2008 dress. The pleated neckline is really interesting.

This is not your average red carpet dress, which is what I love about Lucy, she’s not afraid to take a risk.

Mena Suravi opted for this mocha Christian Siriano Fall 2009 one-shouldered mini dress, which she wore with very fierce strappy heels.

March Of Dimes 34th Annual Beauty Ball, New York

Vanessa Williams wears a well worn Alexander McQueen Fall 2007 strapless chiffon green gown. Both Jessica Alba and Mary J Blige wore this back in 2007.

Vanessa gives her dress some shape, with a studded belt from the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2008 collection.

Does this woman age? She is so flawless.

Fergie debuted her new brunette do, which I really like on her.

Her dress is cute, but those Jimmy Choo heels are fierce.

“Fast & Furious” LA Premiere

Michelle Rodriguez is surprisingly wearing a dress. This is a very rare occasion indeed.

The dress gives the illusion of nudity, but it has an underlay covering the lace details.

This is a very brave choice, as we know flash blubs could have exposed more than we wished to see.

Jordana Brewster’s pink Burberry dress is simply divine. I adore the colour, the draping on the skirt, and the peek-a-boo bodice.

She completes her look with Jimmy Choo Corsica nude gladiator heels.

“Race To Witch Mountain”, LA Premiere

Carla Gugino wore a bright yellow Michael Kors dress with gold accessories including Christian Louboutin heel, and gold Jimmy Choo clutch.

Everything about this look is perfect, excluding her hair ‘do. I have never been a fan of hair plied on top like that, because it reminds me of a pineapple.

AnnaSophia Robb wore a purple Nicole Miller criss-crossed haltered dress.

A very cute dress, for the young actress.

Miu Miu’s Fall 2009 presentation gave us an array of colours including peach, raspberry, maroon, turquoise, black, nude and gold. The Himalayan carpet prints and tiger printed pieces were very interesting.

My favourite pieces were the 2in1 sheath dresses, which had a top with a plunging neckline appearing to be tucked into a pencil skirt.

Embellishments, although heavy on some pieces, were so beautiful. They cascaded down to the tights, then onto the shoes.

Fur was everywhere from trims on coats, clutch and even fur trimmed heels.

Eva Mendes was in the front row, and she managed to make this Prada Fall 2009 two-tone mustard velvet/tweed dress work.

Jessica Alba opted for a bit more dramatic look with a furry bolero over her brown satin dress.

I’m not crazy about her overall look, but I love her studded Miu Miu clutch.

Cheryl Cole’s band mate Kimberley Walsh also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief.

Kimberley also went to meet the Prime Minster last night. She wore a grey Marc by Marc Jacobs Lydia frilled dress, with she matched her dress with black tights, and black peep-toe heels.

The jersey dress has ruffle edge detail throughout, black banded adjustable waist, tiered layer skirt, boatneck collar. You can dress this up or down to suit any occasion, when you purchase it from Net-A-Porter’s US site for only $180, or the international site for £230/€300.

Comic Relief is a UK charity which aims to raising money for projects at home and abroad.

Recently 10 UK celebrities including Cheryl Cole, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief. The climb raised over £1.5 million for the charity, when their aim was £1m, so it was a huge achievement.

To celebrate, the UK Prime Minster Gordon Brown, invited the group to Downing Street to congratulate them on their success.

As usual Cheryl caught my eye, because she was head-to-toe perfection wearing an ivory Alexander McQueen stretch lace bandage dress.

The body con style lace dress, oozes screen siren style, with a nude underlay and a very sexy back lace-up detail.

The Net-A-Porter US site have this beauty on their virtual shelves for $5,425, whilst an equally sexy black version is available from Browns Fashion for £2,535/€2,741.43.

Her look was complete with a pair of tan Rupert Sanderson platform heels and Kenneth Jay Lane Coral droplet earrings ($125).

As much as I like Lily Allen, was a tad disappointed when she was the first celebrity to wear this Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2008 fur print gown, as I had always imagined it on Sarah Jessica Parker.

Lily wore this gown when she arrived at the GQ Men of the Year Awards at the Royal Opera House in London last year.

This was the night she swore off booze, after a drunken verbal assault on Sir Elton John.

Actress Debra Messing hosted the 11th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in LA, and this was one of 4 gowns she wore that evening.

I really don’t like Lily hair, plus Debra’s necklace was a work of art, so she wins this for me.

The gorgeous Amy Adams appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last week.

The actress talked about her new movie Sunshine Cleaning -which also stars Emily Blunt – her engagement and action films.

Of course I was mesmerized by her electric blue Black Halo belted ruffled dress.

The feminine dress is so adorable. I love how the flowy ruffle layer from the shoulders cascades down the skirt, and the leather belt that nips in the waist. Amy opted for a black belt to match her heels.

You can buy this dress from Shopbop.com at the reduced price of $262.50, and it also comes in black and white.

Her black Christian Louboutin double platform heels were the perfect finishing touch, which are available from Neiman Marcus for $1,095.
