Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

Following what the Olsen twins wear is not always easy, because they’re more likely to be wearing vintage pieces.

On this occasion Mary-Kate Olsen has been papped twice wearing black Stella McCartney Mesh basket sandals.

The open-toe slingback heels are made of synthetic leather, and have a basket mesh weave across the front of the heel.

They retail at $995 and £425/€545 from Net-A-Porter. These shoes also came is a nude colour, which was worn by Katie Holmes, but they have since sold out.

Mary-Kate is carrying a studded duffel bag named “Coco”.

The bag has been in huge demand since Mary-Kate was spotted carrying it. The fresh off the Alexander Wang Fall 2009 runway bag, isn’t due to hit stores in July though.

Lucy Liu graces the cover of Vogue China’s April 2009 edition. She is wearing one of those cute mini dresses from Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2009 collection, with the skirt that kicks out at the back.

This issue is full of fantastic colours, so the bright yellow and green colours on the cover, is a perfect why to start this Spring issue. Magdalena Frackwiak’s shoot is the most colourful and is truly an outstanding editorial by Solve Sundsbo.

As much as I love the cover, I also love her Balmain shot. Mostly because the dress looks so much better without that large silver belt.

Her shoot was by Mario Sorrenti.

Big thanks to Aja Source

One dress is strapless and one is asymmetrical, but that doesn’t stop the glaring similarities between the Alexander Wang fitted combo dress, and the Topshop colour block dress.

Topshop are well known, for being ‘inspired’ by the runway, so this is really no surprise to me.

Alexander Wang is a model favourite, so it’s no surprise that Arlenis Sosa wore this dress to an event. Diane Kruger and Lindsay Lohan followed, with Diane being the only one brave enough to wear this dress without a blazer.

Shopbop have this dress for $795, or you can buy the Topshop dress, for a only £18.

What will we be wearing this Summer?

Hopefully some of the hottest pieces from Matthew Williamson’s H&M summer collection.

The is a lot of peacock print pieces, but the hot favourites I’ll assume to be the structured pink dress, the multi-coloured maxi dress.

My personal favorites are the studded belt, the multi-coloured pieces, and the electric blue pieces, especially the cropped pant suit, but if I end up looking like Heidi Klum at the Project Runway Finale, I think I will pass.

The collection goes on sale April 23. It’s going to get ugly.

Actress Mary-Louise Parker arrived at the Emmy Awards back in September wearing a stunning ocean blue Roberto Cavalli Swarovski full length gown.

The gown exudes such an elegant ease, all you will need are some silver strappy sandals, and a stand-out clutch, to compliment the Swarovski crystal detailing on the straps.

This gown will bring a fairy tale elegance to your evening wardrobe. Buy it now from Net-A-Porter, they are selling this dress on their US site for $3,940, and the international site for £1,776/€2,185.

Penelope Cruz – alongside fellow Spanish actress Blanca Portillo and Director Pedro Almodóvar – is back to her stunning best wearing a L’Wren Scott black sparkling gown.

I am really happy those blunt bangs are gone, as this Cindy Crawford-esqe style it more fitting.

Little sis Monica Cruz wore a black Antonio Berardi Spring 2009 mini shirt dress, with black slingbacks and a gold clutch.

She could have worn the fuschia pink version of this dress and really stood out, but this was her sister’s night to shine.

The neckline of Rosana Pastor’s blue satin dress is exquisite.

I love her Jimmy Choo Corsica strappy sandals, but for me they don’t work with the dress.

Elena Ballesteros style is impeccable here. I would rock this look in a heart-beat.

The Spanish actress wore Chanel cropped jacket, with black leggings and black sandals. She added touches of colour with her white tee and red quilted clutch.

Ellen’s look has a Parisian vibe to it, J’Adore ?.

Model Blanca Romero wore a very cute gingham Christian Dior bubble hemmed dress. I love the cute bow detail on the waist, and matching grey Dior heels.

Gorgeous model Eugenia Silva added nude accessories with her black and white look.

I adore her belted blazer, and I am happy to finally seen one of those mini Christian Dior Spring 2009 sheer skirts on the red carpet.

Bibiana Fernandez wore than stood out on this red carpet wearing a one-shouldered turquoise Lanvin leopard print dress. This dress may look familiar to you, and that is because Maggie Gyllenhaal wore it to the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year.

Bibi’s funky look is completed with a gold pair of Christian Louboutin multi buckle sandals.

I was drawn to Cayetana Guillen Cuervo’s white Juanjo Oliva Spring 2009 dress, because of the origami bow.

Normally this kind of bold detail puts me off, but it really works well here.

Actress Veronica Sanchez works an oversized blazer look, which is very much a trend right now.

Her check pants and French Connection wooden clutch, complete this laid back chic look.
