Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Earlier today, Michelle Obama stepped onto Air Force One wearing a ivory tulle tweed custom-made Thakoon coat.

Several hours later, she melted my heart by stepping off the plane in London wearing Jason Wu’s chartreuse silk crepe short sleeve sheath dress, with black Michael Kors coat.

The look was completed with her favourite black Azzedine Alaia belt, which Michelle wore back in June 2008, to the Final Primary Night Event in Minnesota.

I’m so happy she is sticking with the same young designers. These looks are chic, effortless, young, yet sophisticated.

Chartreuse was one of the main colours featured in Jason Wu’s Fall 2009 collection. He even created an exclusive dress in this fantastic colour for Net-A-Porter.com.

The Jason Wu Silk embroidered shift dress is available to purchase from the US site for $1,840, or the international site for £990/€1,214.

I’m guessing after the world has seen Michelle in this chartreuse dress, the Net-A-Porter one will sell fast.

Oh, in case you were wondering, President Barack Obama is in London to attend a G-20 meeting, and he and the First Lady are expected to meet with Queen Elizabeth.

This woman continues to rock my world.

Back in May 2008 Madonna wore this Stella McCartney pleated pencil dress to the amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS 2008 benefit, during Cannes Film Festival.

The dress was not presented in Stella McCartney’s Spring 2009 collection as expected, but it’s currently on the virtual shelves at Browns Fashion for £1,525/€1,644.03/$2,122.19.

The material girl wore her dress with nude Christian Louboutin Bloody Mary ankle boots, and gold bracelets.

Take this stylish dress from day to night, by adding statement heels and bold accessories.

After spending the weekend in Japan promoting Samantha Thavasa bags, Jennifer Lopez is already back in the US.

The diva was clearly over her jet-lag, as she dined with her husband at Cecconi’s in LA last night.

After checking out her cute ensemble, which included tapered pants, a black off-the-shoulder Thomas Wylde La Cruz top, a Streets Ahead studded belt, and Christian Louboutin multi buckle sandals, I wondered if she would prove me wrong, and carry a Samantha Thavasa bag.

Nope. Instead she carried a Valentino Petale studded tote.

We’ve seen Blake Lively carrying this tote sans studs on the Gossip Girl set, but Jennifer’s bag has a harder, rock n’ roll edge, with the multiple studs.

The retail price of the bag is $4,495, which I guess is enough to buy quite a few Samantha Thavasa bags.

Browns Fashion just recently added this bag in dove grey to their virtual shelves for £2,725.00/€2,943.40/$3,898.11.

Country star Taylor Swift graces the cover girl of Allure magazines April 2009 edition.

The singer’s sophomore album Fearless was #1 in the US pop album chart for 11 weeks, which seals her superstar status.

In her interview, Taylor talks about some difficult issues like weight and sex. Here are some extracts:

On weight: “Basically, if I’m indulging too much and not exercising enough, I can feel that. I can feel a change before I see it. For me, working out is not so I can stay skinny. It’s so that I can keep up my endurance so I’m not panting on stage. Heavy breathing is the worst when you’re in concert. You don’t want to see that, if you’re going to see a show.”

On staying quiet about her virginity: “It’s fine to talk about love publicly. But I think when you talk about virginity and sex publicly, people just automatically picture you naked. And as much as I can prevent people picturing me naked, I’m going to.”

On Fairy Tales: “I have always been fascinated with fairy tales… and the idea that Prince Charming is just one castle away. And you’re gonna run across a field and meet each other in the middle, and have an amazing, perfect movie kiss. And it’s all gonna be happily ever after.”

On writing that perfect break-up song: “For some reason, I could never, ever stop writing songs about heartbreak. Just because as human beings, what we can’t have is what we replay in our head over and over again before we go to sleep.”

I first came across this A.L.C. Motorcyle leather jacket, when it was first worn by Gwen Stefani, at the Andrea Lieberman A.L.C. collection launch last month.

What I love about the jacket is its tough outer edge, which you would expect from a leather jacket, with the gentle soul of a cardigan, with the jersey lining.

The distinctive details are the oversized collar, which flaps open, and the asymmetrical zip closures – 2 diagonal zip pockets on the right front, and 1 at left.

This weekend both Jennifer Lopez and Ashley Tisdale wore this jacket in black and white.

Jennifer wore her white version when she arrived at Narita airport to promote Samantha Thavasa bags, whilst Ashley wore the black to Perez Hilton’s birthday party.

Anne Hathaway wore this jacket back in February, when she attended a pre-Oscars cocktail reception at Cecconi’s in LA.

Be one of the first to buy this jacket from Barney’s in black and white for $1,100.

It looks snug enough to wear to this Spring, and timeless enough for you to wear it again this coming Fall.

Stella McCartney attended the Forces For Nature Benefit in New York last night, wearing a blue satin mini dress, with a sheer panel yoke, from her Fall 2009 collection.

The dress looks far better on the model, but I love how she accessorized her look with those edgy patterned boots, which are also from her Fall 2009 collection.

Stella’s father Paul McCartney was there, with his partner Nancy Shevell. She supported her could-be-daughter-in-law, by wearing a piece from Stella’s Spring 2009 collection.

The sequin jumpsuit was covered up by a felt coat, for which I was thankful. This is not an easy look to pull off. Amber Valletta did, but being a former model, that’s to be expected.

Nancy completes her look with a pair of kitten heels. This was the nail in the coffin for this terrible look. She how she looked without the coat below.

Ziyi Zhang managed to redeem herself, following two disappointing looks last week.

She wore a black Stella McCartney bandage dress, with tights, black sandals and a black clutch.

The halter-neck dress, has cut-out shoulders, and off-the-shoulder cap sleeves.

I’m not sure about the shell necklace. It looks kinda awkward, as I think the dress speaks for itself, and doesn’t need anything extra.

Diane von Furstenberg went against that Stella McCartney dress code, and wore a LBD, with her own Fall 2009 geometric print black and white coat, with Christian Louboutin sandals.

I love her infectious smile.
