I think Kate Bosworth looks absolutely outstanding in this Alexander McQueen Resort 2009 dress. One of the best looks of the party night.

I love that it is sleeveless, unlike the runway version, and I like that her hair is unfussy.

Madonna arrived wearing a Christian Dior Spring 2009 dress, which was unsurprisingly sheer in places.

Taraji P. Henson did a quick change from the show. Her second pick was this Nina Ricci Spring 2009 peachy gown with ruffled details, and a rise & fall hem.

YIKES, was the first thing I said when I saw Zoe Saldana in this Dolce & Gabbana gown. The animal print is too ‘in your face’.

Speaking of YIKES. Alicia Keys changed the dress, but didn’t change the hair and make-up which has been an issue with me and many of you.

This canary yellow asymmetrical gown is gorgeous. Such a shame about rest.

Zooey Deschanel – Katy Perry’s could be twin – arrived looks cute as always wearing a stunning silver sequined Elie Saab dress.

I think it’s a first that she is not wearing tights on the red carpet.

Cat Deeley wears a one-shouldered Matthew Williams Fall 2008 gown, that has already been worn by Mischa Barton.

The gorgeous Georgina Chapman wore a gold embroidered self designed dress from her Marchsea Spring 2009 collection.

I love the swirling pattern on the skirt of Ginnifer Goodwin’s dress, but not so crazy about the bodice. This is a great colour on her though.

Being in the front row of a fashion show pays off for actresses, as Jessica Stroup was wearing a Pamella Roland Spring 2009 plunging black and white sequined gown, after she attended Pamella Roland’s Fall 2009 show last week.

The actress dazzled in Jude Frances jewelry.

There are a few things I hated last night. Jessica Biel’s hair, Beyonce’s dress. Now I can add Salma Hayek’s Balenciaga dress.

It looks so unflattering on her, and the tired old YSL Trib Two’s and the tights don’t help her cause either.

I will guess Marion Cotillard didn’t want people stepping on the train of her Dior gown, so she slipped into this violet strapless cocktail Elie Saab Fall 2008 dress for this party.

Marisa Tomei did the same, but I really dislike the colour blocking on this Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2009 gown.

Like last year’s Vanity Fair party, Ziyi Zhang wore Armani Privé.

Her nude cocktail Armani Privé Fall 2008 dress had a stunning embellished bodice, and a soft silk chiffon layered skirt.

Jada Pinkett-Smith wore a Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 one-sleeved gown, which had a crystal embellished detail on the waist.

Daniel Craig’s partner Satsuki Mitchell, wore a watermelon Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Couture one shouldered gown.

Kate Beckinsale wore a J.Mendel Fall 2009 asymmetrical black gown, which she decorated with a silver brooch.

This is a very subdued look for Kate, who usually loves big gowns.

Rachel Weisz wore one of the finale dresses from the Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009 collection.

I wasn’t particularly crazy about this dress then, and even less enthused about it now.

The heels are fierce though.

Elizabeth Banks wore this black flapper-esqe Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 cocktail dress.

This dress was presented in ivory, and I think this would have been a better choice for Elizabeth.

Her look is complete with Sergio Rossi shoes and a Swarovski clutch.

Yay. Now the parties start.

Debra Messing makes up for her earlier disappointment, by wearing this nude sleeveless Jenny Packham Fall 2008 gown with emerald green embellishments.

I have always loved this gown, and I am glad Debra wore it well.

Instead wearing her own expected L.A.M.B. designs, Gwen Stefani wore a black Chanel Fall 2008 Couture cocktail dress, with interesting detail on the bodice.

I really dislike this collection, so kudos to Gwen for making this work.

Good to see her back on the red carpet.

This has to be one of the first times I have really dislike something worn by Naomi Watts.

Diane von Furstenberg is of course wearing her own designs. The lavender sequined dress, with beaded details is from her Spring 2009 collection.

Carolina Herrera was of course wearing her own design from her Spring 2009 collection.

Jessica Biel tries to redeem herself wearing a fuschia Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 gown, but still fails with her greasy hair.

Rosario Dawson out does her wearing a strapless white satin Dolce & Gabbana gown with an black embellished belt.

Jessica Alba, like Heidi Klum, wore a RM by Roland Mouret Resort 2009 black gown, with an asymmetrical hem, and a overshot shoulder, which was folded down, to reveal the ivory lining.

Claire Danes is gorgeous wearing a Zac Posen Spring 2009 nude dress, with cap sleeves and a black lace overlay with an asymmetrical hem.

Natalia Vodianova arrived with her husband wearing a holey wool Calvin Klein Fall 2009 one-sleeved dress which looked like lace, with two tone peep-toes.

I adore this silk blue Ralph Lauren gown that Olivia Wilde is wearing.

She completes her look with a Daniel Swarovski clutch.

Victoria Beckham arrived looking outstanding wearing a black jersey dress, with sequined shoulders from her own Fall 2009 recently presented collection.

What is up with Eva Longoria and dark colours lately? Bring back the bubblegum pinks, and baby blues immediately.

Having said that, I LOVE this suit on her. She looks fantastic, and this is the best her hair has looked in a long while.

OMG…this is exactly the dress I picked from the Georges Chakra Spring 2009 Couture collection for Carrie Underwood. I knew she would love this, as it’s just her style.

The silver one shoulder dress has strands of Swarovski crystal and pearls which is just exquisite.

She completes her look with a matching Mary Norton clutch.

Sharon Stone wore a black Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2009 lace gown.

It would be hard to wear a bra or nipple covers with this dress, but Sharon could have at least modified the dress with an extra layer, so we were not exposed to her nipples.

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon wore a stunning gown by up and coming designer Rafael Cennamo. The beautiful black asymmetrical one shoulder gown, had silver pailettes along the bust and strap.

Outstanding, as always.

Rashida Jones wore a sequined taupe sleeveless 3.1 Phillip Lim Ruffle cocoon dress, with pewter strappy sandals.

Eva La Rue’s strapless figure-hugging dress, is incredibly sexy. I love the nude underlay against her caramel skin.

Gina Gershon is wearing the same body-hugging Roberto Cavalli black gown with jeweled detail on the bust, which she wore Tony Awards back in June last year.

Eve’s wore an azure blue halter gown.

Rachel Griffiths wore a 60s vintage Geoffrey Beene gown from Decades Inc. with Roger Vivier shoes, a Lambertson Truex clutch and Neil Lane jewels.

A great look for the mother-to-be.

What happened to Dita von Teese?

This is two in a row that I dislike. The colour and the right side of the Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 Couture dress I really dislike.

This is a post for those who sadly didn’t – and should have – walked the red carpet.

Reese Witherspoon wore a Rodarte Spring 2009 gown, which was an edgy change in direction for her.

I would have preferred her to wear the runway version, as it was more colourful, but I love the embellishments on this gown.

Nicole Kidman wore yet another L’Wren Scott Spring 2009 white gown. I now make this 6 pieces from that collection.

Unfortunately for Nicole, they all have a touch of de ja vu about them.

Halle Berry was surprising one of two celebrities to wear Marchesa last night.

I really expected to see many gowns from the Fall 2009 collection to end up on the red carpet.

Halle looked stunning wearing a strapless black and gold tulle gown from the Spring 2009 collection.

Tina Fey looked her best ever wearing a Zac Posen gown.

OMG.

I have waited my whole blogging life to say something nice about Jennifer Aniston, and she has finally given me the chance.

I almost fell of my chair when I saw that :

a. She was not wearing black.
b. She looks AMAZING.

I always knew this was coming, and my bitching has finally paid off.

Jennifer looked amazing wearing a strapless Valentino Spring 2009 Couture gown. I actually got goosebumps looking at her.

OK the dress has been modified from the runway, as the chiffon details don’t appear on her dress, but I can’t hate her for that.

Maybe she stepped up her game because Brangelina was in the audience, or maybe she didn’t want to look like her boyfriend John Mayer, who wore a black tux.

Whatever the reason, I applaud it. LOUDLY.

As Etta James would sing….At Last.

Best Dressed Award
I was not particular wowed by many on the red carpet tonight, but Freida Pinto definitely stood out in her blue John Galliano Spring 2009 gown.

I loved the one shoulder long sleeve gown with the all lace, beading, embroidery and tulle. It was so pretty.

The gown was perfect for her, as it feels Indian inspired.

She completed her look with a Judith Leiber clutch.

Best Couture Award
OK Sarah Jessica Parker’s Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, did make her look like a fairy princess, but it’s that what we all want to see on the red carpet? Fantasy and Fairy tales?

I love the boost this gown gave her, and I love the embroidered bodice.

The only downside for me was the hair. One of her classic high buns would have looked so great with this dress.

Her jewels were Fred Leighton and her clutch is Ferragamo.

I love how cute her and Matthew Broderick looked so happy on the red carpet.

Back To Her Best Award
Of everyone on the red carpet tonight, I was most worried about Anne Hathaway. Her red carpet style has been underwhelming lately, so I prepared myself for the worst.

I was releived when Anne walked the red carpet wearing this gorgeous ivory Armani Privé Spring 2009 gown that was covered in clear paillettes. The gown moved so perfectly when she walked the red carpet.

Even thought I love the gown, I did prefer it on the runway, without the silver embellished band on the top of the bodice.

Her stunning jewels are by Cartier.

Best Use Of Colour Award
Whilst a lot of actress opted for neutral colours, Natalie Portman opted for this stunning pink Rodarte chiffon strapless gown.

I wasn’t crazy about the make-up, but the gown overall ruled.

Just OK Award
Taraji P. Henson has had a great Awards season, and although I do like this ivory Roberto Cavalli gown on her, I expected a bit more from her.

The Fred Leighton necklace is outstanding, and the Mary Norton red bag, adds some colour, but I feel like this is just OK.

On The Fence Award
Marion Cotillard was my girl crush of last awards season. Since then she seemed to disappear off the face of the earth, and the few appearances she did make left me underwhelmed.

Her Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture gown has been modified from the runway, but I feel like I love the gown more than her in the gown.

Hard To Pull It Off, But She Did Award
Marisa Tomei didn’t pick an easy gown.

I went back and forth as to whether I liked this one-shouldered Versace Atelier silvery grey satin organza gown.

The final verdict was yes, as I became mesmerized by the pleated details.

Her jewels were Van Cleef & Arpels.

Most Improved Award
It’s not black, or brown, or by Azzedine Alaia, so Penelope Cruz finally earned her place on the Best Dressed list.

She wore a vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture gown. I loved the print on the gown, which looked like lace.

Her jewels are Chopard.

Best Custom Gown
Queen Latifah attended Georges Chakra’s Spring 2009 couture show in Paris recently to work with the designer.

The result was this amazing navy dutchess satin gown with tulle train, and Swarovski crystal embroidery around the neckline and on the hip.

Fit for a Queen.

I Know You Hate It, But I Love It Award
Tilda Swinton is like Marmite. You either love her or hate her.

I personally love her edgy style, despite her disappointing me at the Berlin Film Festival.

After her win last year, the British actress was a presenter last night. I loved her Lanvin Pre-Fall 2009 sand-colored matte silk satin draped blouse, which she wore with an elegant black duchesse satin long evening skirt with gathered detailing.

Golden Girl Award
Viola Davis has been wearing a lot of David Meister lately, so I was surprise when she switched to Reem Acra for her gown last night.

Surprised, but not disappointed because she looked radiant. I’m always mesmerized by her skin, because she glows.

Lady In Red Award
There were 4 red gowns on the red carpet last night, but Virginia Madsen’s Kevan Hall strapless gown was the one I really liked.

I love that origami fold on the front, and her silky silhouette.

Her shoes were Rene Caovilla, her jewels by Loree Rodkin and her clutch was by Katherine Baumann.

Most Classic Award
Meryl Steep was stunning wearing an off-the-shoulder Alberta Ferretti gown.

She is glowing.

Her clutch is by Ferragamo.

Best Couple Award
I know I am always macking on Diane Lane and Josh Brolin, but I adore them together.

She also wore a Dolce & Gabbana strapless mermaid gown, but the style was very different from Melissa George’s well worn gown.

Beyonce Will Be Jealous Award
If Beyonce had not been force to wear that House of Dereon Couture gown her mother created, this is the gown she would have wanted to wear, as it’s dripping with bling.

Instead Leslie Mann picked this stunning platinum Pamella Roland Fall 2009 gown, which was one of my favourite gowns presented at New York Fashion Week last week.
