Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2009

When Melissa George stepped on the Oscars red carpet wearing a white Dolce & Gabbana strapless mermaid gown, the first thing that came to my mind was Olga Kurylenko.

That’s because last November we were wowed by Olga in this gown. So much so, that she was our joint Best Dressed that week.

Olga wore her dress to the Italian Quantum Of Solace premiere, with a stunning necklace and a pewter clutch. Melissa opted for a matching white clutch, and a vintage bracelet.

Olga wears her gown with so much more attitude, so she wins this for me.

There seems to be a lot of pretty pink dresses around lately.

Kim Kardashian got all dressed up for a girlie mani-pedi session, with friend Robin Antin at the Beverly Hills Nail Design studio yesterday.

Kim removed her Giuseppe Zanotti pink jeweled peep-toes for her pedicure, and these heels matched her pink Lela Rose one-shoulder belted dress.

The asymmetrical dress, has a cute ruffled neckline, and a satin sash at the waist.

This is another great look for Kim Kardashian. I’m sure most/some of you will agree.

This dress is available to purchase from Shopbop for $1,095.

I knew it wouldn’t be long before Freida Pinto would land a magazine cover. The Indian beauty has been wowing us with her red carpet style, so she was a natural choice to be the March 2009 cover girl of Vogue India.

She looks gorgeous on the cover, wearing a cute embellished mini dress from Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2009 collection. The dress also has cut-outs, metallics and sheer capped shoulders, which work with dark lips and soft curls. I would have loved to see her full-length in this dress.

On begin recognised for her style: “I’ve become so much more aware of the fashion world recently — and I’m doomed now. There’s no turning back.”

On her own style mantra: “You’ve got to go with instinct, the right dress will make your heart skip a beat. You’ve got to fall in love with what you’re wearing to really pull it off.”

At the Vogue shoot, when a reporter asked stylist Tiina Laakkonen why Pinto isn’t being dressed exclusively in Indian fashion, Pinto grabbed a pencil and scribbled her answer on a scrap of paper, ‘Because she’s international now!’

The magazine hits stands today.

Demi Lovato wowed the crowds wearing a black Shoshanna strapless dress with studded peep-toe booties.

This isn’t any old plain LBD, because of the ruching at bust and ruffled detail on the front.

A very cute look for the young actress.

Dania Ramirez wasn’t about to be upstage by a bunch of teen actresses, so she made sure she stood out wearing a orange and white graphic print Jay Godfrey halter-neck maxi dress.

Very tropical.

Jordan Pruitt is a perfect pink princess wearing a Betsey Johnson Teen Vogue strapless dress, with shimmering silver pumps.

The dress is cinched in at the waist, and accented with sash, then the A-line skirt flares to create the perfectly pretty silhouette.

This look is so girlie, I love it.

For the second time in a row, I am surprised at Jordin Sparks’ toned down look.

Where are the cute mini dresses and the bright colours?

Emily Osment is wearing a gorgeous cream and black BCBG Max Azria embellished silk chiffon babydoll dress.

I love embellished bodice, the flowing chiffon skirt and black ribbon tied around the empire-waist.

Meaghan Jette Martin opted for this striped and polka dotted Betsey Johnson Spring 2008 mini dress, with sequins all over.

The dress is cute, but the shoes are fierce.

Tiffany Giardina was also cute in pink, wearing a ruffle neck dress, accented with a black waist band.

She completed her look with a silver clutch, and a black jeweled headband.

Leven Rambin opted for a teal silk pocketed shift dress.

On Saturday, before the Oscars, Lucy Liu attended the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Lucy was more than pretty in pink, she was outstanding beautiful wearing a Lanvin strapless ruched dress.

What made this look so perfect for me was the clear belt, as the dress has more definition with it.

I am very thankful she didn’t wear a black belt, and ruin the whole look.

Do you think you could work this look? Well BrownsFashion.com are selling this dress for £1,980/€2,255.64/$2,868.23.

Victoria Beckham’s dress collection was pre-launched back in December, and sold-out within minutes.

We have seen her wear nearly every piece in the collection, no one is a better brand ambassador than her.

Now we can all have a chance to channel our inner VB, as her dress collection goes on sale today on Net-A-Porter.com.

The six super-luxe pieces from this collection were inspired by 1950s glamour.

The stand out piece is the printed ‘Minerve’ dress with it ultra-flattering cap sleeves and nipped in waist and the black strapless ‘Orthez’ dress, which is classic Victoria, and even gave her tiny frame an hourglass silhouette, when she wore it to New York Fashion Week back in September.

I will guess the collection will not last the day, so go to Net-A-Porter.com to add a touch of glamour to your closet.

UPDATE: The collection is now sold-out.
