Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2009

Leighton Meester is featured inside the pages of InStyle’s US March 2009 edition.

I don’t know about you, but I really dislike the make-up in this shoot.

All the looks are gorgeous and have a happy spring vibe to them, then that’s countered with a sullen looking Leighton.

In the video below, the Gossip Girl actress talks dresses, designers and fashion inspirations, which include her mum and Blair Waldorf herself.

When I saw this Alexander Wang Spring 2009 strapless dress, on the runway, I immediately put it in the category of ‘to be worn by models only’, like most of the Preen Spring 2009 collection.

Diane Kruger, banished that thought when I saw this picture of her at The Glamour Project wearing the Alexander Wang stretch mesh combo dress.

She looked flawless wearing her dress with sheer black tights, and black pointy pumps.

Could you pull this dress off as flawlessly as Diane? Well you can purchase this dress from Saks.com for $796.

Thanks to alyss for the picture.

I have found another picture of Freida Pinto for Vogue India March 2009.

This time she is wearing a lavender and aqua coloured Lanvin Spring 2009 bejeweled dress, with the black embellished runway shoes.

The Vogue cover emerged just hours after it was revealed that Freida is lined up to star in Woody Allen’s next film.

Allen moved quickly to secure the services of the 24-year-old actress, the latest in a long line of female muses featured in his films.

Freida will star alongside Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins in what will only be her second film.

Pop Princess Nicola Roberts, decided to shake things up when she attended the 2009 NME Awards in London last night.

She sexed-up her look wearing a ultra mini Preen Cordula lace-up dress, which has a lace-up neck details, and gold studded straps.

She wore minimal makeup, and completed her look with peep-toe booties.

You can buy this dress from Net-A-Porter’s US site for $1,135, and the international site for £600/€736.

Victoria Hesketh aka Little Boots wore a sparkling Matthew Williamson sequined tank dress.

She defined her waist in this mini dress with a tiny belt, to give the dress some shape. She completed her look with multi-coloured peep-toes, and a fuchsia clutch.

This dress is currently only available on Net-A-Porter’s international site for £1,850/€2,215.

The fashion forward Alexa Chung is not one to wait for clothes to be in stores, she’s already wearing this ruffled micro-mini, with opaque tight, straight off PPQ Fall 2009 runway show this week.

Actress Zhang Ziyi arrived at the premiere of Forever Enthralled in Tokyo yesterday looking so cute in her Giorgio Armani Resort 2009 dress.

The dress had a silver embellished trim on the hemline, and a dragonfly brooch on her shoulder.

She wore her dress, with a pair of black bow tied shoes, a silver ankle bracelet, silver watch, bracelet and diamond ring.

Her hair was tied back in a loose single plait, and decorated with a silver accessory.

Her make-up was kept very light, with a pink glossy lip colour, which completed her chic look.

Her movie opens in Japan on March 7.

The Royal family gathered in London this week, as the Queen unveiled a memorial statue of the Queen Mother.

The royal women were of course all dresses up and looking fabulous, but it was those royal fashionista Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who stood out the most in their designer threads.

Beatrice wore a very interesting hat with a eggplant ruffled hemmed dress, and a Luella Florence bouclé jacket.

Princess Eugenie, also wore the required hat, with a navy velvet jacket, gloves and a navy blue Marc Jacobs belted silk tulip dress.

I’m always interested to see what these young ladies wear, because they continue to surprise me with their great choices, and continue shift the view that the royal family are stuffy and out of touch.

Princess Beatrice’s Luella jacket is available to purchase from the Net-A-Porter US site for $1,360, and the International site for £565/€748.

Princess Eugenie’s Marc Jacobs dress is still available from Saks.com in red for $995.
