Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2009

Jennifer Hudson pick up her outstanding new artist Award wearing a black Peter Sorenon dress, which had a feathered detail on the hip.

She completed her look with Givenchy lace ankle sandals.

Beyonce perform her song Halo wearing a gorgeous white gown, with a black band, and delicate embellishments on the bodice, which also cascaded down her skirt.

Jada Pinkett Smith wore a maroon strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, with a a vintage Judith Lieber belt.

I must say I am a bit disappointed the bigger stars did not take to the red carpet.

Taraji P. Henson added her increasing star quality to the red carpet wearing a gorgeous lemon halter neck mermaid Zac Posen gown.

I love the ruffled detail down the middle, and the layering of the hem.

A very chic Rosario Dawson walked the red carpet wearing a black silk taffeta Rafael Cennamo full-skirted dress.

Sanaa Lathan looked ravishing in this daring plunge neck jersey Donna Karan gown with black straps.

I am not a fan of Dakota Fanning’s nude strapless down. It feels too naked.

Alfre Woodard wore a Tadashi fuschia iridescent crinkled silk chiffon fly away cocktail dress. Her look was accessorized with a Mary Norton gold clutch.

Chandra Wilson impressed me on this red carpet.

Usually I find a fault, but the hair, the make-up, the jewels, the Daniel Swarovski clutch and her orange Pamella Roland Spring 2008 gown are all faultless.

Can you believe that this is Rudy Huxtable aka Keshia Knight Pulliam?

She stands out on the red carpet wearing an electric blue gown.

After Taraji, Vanessa Williams wore my second favourite gown on this red carpet. I love the colour, and jeweled detail on this one-shouldered gown.

Like Chandra, Tichina Arnold looks flawless. This baby blue gown really stands out and makes her glow.

Holly Robinson Peete wore a coral and silver Naeem Khan Spring 2008 patterned cocktail dress, with pewter strappy heels.

She’s back. Not only from having a baby, but Michelle Monaghan is back on top form giving us edgy red carpet fashion, that Jennifer Connelly would be proud of.

With her hair pulled back Michelle wore a Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 ensemble which consisted of long sleeved orange dress, with patchwork and sequined detail along one side of the dress, and layers of tulle, to give her skirt some volume.

I know a lot of you hate head-to-toe runway looks, but she would have been hard pressed to find a shoe outside of the Vuitton Spring 2009 collection, that would have done this dress justice. A plain black sandal, just wouldn’t do.

This look won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I love it.

OMG, I can’t take this any more.

Taylor Momsen needs to decide who she wants to be.

She is wearing heavy rock chick make-up and a choppy banged ‘do, with a ethereal Marchesa Fall 2008 gown.

She needs to decide on which direct she want to go, because this is all very confusing for me.

Eliza Dushku wore an electrifying nude and silver asymmetrical Kaufman Franco Fall 2008 gown.

Her look is flawless.

Mary J Blige kept her look simple wearing a black Donna Karan gown, which had an asymmetrical neckline.

The credit crunch looks to be affecting everyone, as Julia Restoin-Roitfeld wears the same mini black embellished Balmain Spring 2009 dress, she wore earlier this week to a Vogue Pre-BAFTA party.

Or unlike me, she likes to travel very light.

Along with the usual suspects, I am very much looking forward to seeing what actress Taraji P. Henson wears to the Oscars.

Her style continues to shine, and this was evident in the vintage Thierry Mugler orange one shoulder dress from Decades Inc.

The actress wore this to the 40th NAACP Image Awards Pre-Show Gala on Wednesday night.

The dress fits her body like a glove, and I love the distinctive hardware of a silver star, placed on the shoulder.

With curly hair and silver strappy sandals, the look was complete.

Pre-Poxie, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and son Romeo went shopping on Rodeo Drive.

Victoria was wearing a red Balenciaga dress with puff sleeves, red Christian Louboutin Rolandos, whilst carrying a tan Hermes Kelly Longue.

Kyra Sedgwick wore the same dress when she attended the premiere of Taking Chance on Wednesday night.

The actress wore her dress with tights, and knee-high lace up boots.

I hate to be predictable, but Victoria wins this hands down.

I’m currently packing as tomorrow I leave London for New York Fashion Week, so I just wanted to say that my coverage of tonights NAACP Image Awards may appear much later than you would normally expect, if I don’t get a chance to do it before I leave.

I will schedule posts to keep you entertained each day, and I will look forward to blogging to you live from a New York Starbucks like Carrie Bradshaw ;)

Shows will be kept a secret for now, just in case I get bounced at the door, or I arrive late and miss the show.

I never thought there would be a day that I would covet a piece of clothing from Kim Kardashian’s closet, but I love this Chaser LA vintage Prince & The Revolution Purple Rain tee.

She wore the long body tissue jersey tee, when she went to Coco De Ville night club with her younger brother Robert Jr. recently.

I was never into the Iron Maiden tees, as I would have felt like I would have been a fraud wearing them, as I was not into that type of music growing up, but this tee I would wear.

Shopwoc.com sells this tee for $40.

The fellas can buy the same round neck tee from Kitson.com ($38).
