Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2009

Kate Bosworth was the first to wear this black 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2009 dress, which has a zipper trim on the ruffles.

She wore this dress at the Global Green benefit last year, with black pointy pumps.

Lucy Liu wore the same dress on Sunday, when she attended the birthday party of stylist Patricia Field.

Lucy dress – which she wore with tights, and YSL Tribute sandals – had sheer sleeves like the runway version, but Kate’s was satin through-out.

Despite Lucy’s shoes and tights – which I am so over on the red carpet – I really think this dress suits Kate’s style better.

You can purchase this dress for $895 from NeimanMarcus.com.

Victoria Beckham’s street is impeccable, but her red carpet style has not impressed me until last night.

The fashion designer, who has just shown her second collection in New York this week, outshone everyone on the red carpet wearing a one shouldered crystal embellished nude mini Armani dress.

I would have preferred a strappy sandals, but I do love her matching satin pumps too.

It wasn’t a surprise to see Alicia Keys at this event, as she has just a close working relationship with Giorgio Armani.

The gorgeous singer arrived wearing a long black coat, which she wore at the Max Azria show, which she removed to reveal a stunning coral Armani sheath dress.

She wore her dress with a amazing pair of jewel encrusted Armani Privé Fall 2007 slingbacks, which have a contrast bow on the side.

January Jones wore a stunning red Armani crystal embellished dress. Despite the colour, I expected something with more pizazz from Miss Jones.

Maybe it’s just the hair that is not working for me.

Zoe Saldana worked a 20s vibe with Marcel waves, which I think worked really well with her shimmering white dress.

I love the rosette detail on the shoulder.

Elsa Pataky is usually a lot more expressive on the red carpet, whether it’s too revealing, too short, or too unusual.

So imagine my surprised that she wore a black tuxedo, with a sexy sheer top. Too safe for Elsa.

Despite me fully not understanding what Molly Sims does – like Joy Bryant – I always appreciate her efforts on the red carpet.

She is always impeccable, which is why I’m really baffled by this fringed crochet number, over a black ensemble.

Across the Armani ranges, I am shocked that this is the best she could do last night.

I believe that is suppose to be red lipstick, but I am seeing orange.

This is a really nice skirt suit that Solange Knowles wore.

Nice if you are Cate Blanchett, or a lady who lunches, or someone who has the style, grace and sophistication to pull it off, but on a 20-something year old girl? NO.

And that neon pink clutch with that suit? NO, it does not work.

Does this girl have a stylist?

When will she find a balance and wear something appropriate?

If Kim Kardashian can do it, Solange has NO excuse.

The Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009 collection, was not what I expected.

I have become so used to the criss cross signature dresses, I expected more variations. There were faint touches of this signature, but without the black detailing.

The theme was urban warrior, hence the bullet belts, camouflage fatigue, and the open balaclava’s.

What contradicted the urban warrior theme, were the bright colours of yellow and pink, which were referred to in the notes as, highlighter pink and yellow.

Cocktail dresses, bandages dress, jackets, pants and coats were all presented in mostly dark or neutral colours.

With the lack of red carpet gowns, I got my buzz from the cocktail dresses. My favourites were the gorgeous red and green cocktail dresses, which were camouflage-esqe with a black lace overlay.

This was a very enjoyable collection, which I would like to at movie screenings, premiere’s, parties and openings.

I just wonder who will be first to wear this collection. Claire Danes or Rachel Weisz.

The way the runway was layout was really interesting.

The lead model would cross over to the adjacent runway, whilst a following model would catch up, and they would meet at the end of the runway to pose for the photographers.

I wasn’t sure if you would get my drift, so I taped some of the action.

As I said in my previous post, Claire Danes wore a Spring 2009 green dress, with black criss cross details. What can I say other than stunning.

This collection was a mixture of loud pinks, lime greens and a lot of black.

The signature criss cross were not as evident as in previous collections.
Batman hats were surprising, and bullet belts featured.
Claire Danes was in the front row wearing a gorgeous green criss cross Spring 2009 Narciso Rodriguez dress, sitting next a very handsome man…*drooling*
Kanye West, Tory Burch, Carine Roitfeld and Julianna Margulies were all in the front row.

The show just ended and it was amazing. Quite dark and Gothic-esqe, with Balmain-inspired square shoulders like at Herve Leger. Turtle necks and lace featured heavily..

In the front row was Coco Rocha. She is still a red head and she was wearing this seasons colour electric blue.

Rachel Bilson looked stunning wearing a one-sleeved Max Aria coral dress.

Others in the front row included – surprisingly – Armani favourite Alicia Keys.

Joy Bryant, Keisha Whitaker in a taupe dress and the gorgeous Aisha Taylor is a gorgeous summery dress.

Onto the next show. I’ll write more later.

Excuse typos, writing from my crackberry.

Alice + Olivia

Paris Hilton showed off her very long legs wearing a LWD with a embellished bodice, and a multi-layered skirt

She completed her look with silver sparkling heels, and a faux-fur shrug.

Nicky Hilton opted for head-t0-toe black.

I love Kim Kardashian’s white waistcoat and pants set, but I don’t like the hair.

This look is so tailored, that a sleek ponytail or bun, would have worked better for me.

The Hilton sisters were in black and white, so were the Kardashian’s with Khloe being the one to faded to black.

I am loving Kristen Bell’s look. I just got a pair of tapered black trousers like this from H&M, so I think I may steal this look for tomorrow.

Adrienne Bailon looks adorable wearing a pink Alice + Olivia strapless ruffle bib dress. She gave her cutesy look an edge with a biker jacket, and the celebrity uniform shoe – the YSL Trib Two’s.

Tracy Reese

A fresh faced Paris Hilton arrived at this show wearing a red velvet dress, with a lush jacket.

I love this jacket, especially the puffy shoulders.

Nicky paired her leather jacket with a white dress.

This is an adorable LWD from Tracy Reese’s Spring 2009 collection, but again Kim Kardashian’s hair is bothering me.

Kellie Pickler wore a peachy halter with skin-tight jeans. She looked fabulous here, and even better at the Pamella Roland show which I saw her at today, but more on that later.

Jill Stuart

Kristen Bell opted for a gorgeous summery floral strapless dress, with a grey cardigan.

Michelle Trachtenberg wore a grey Jill Stuart Resort 2009 halter neck dress, with a cute bow on the hip.

Jessica Stroup opted for a white floaty dress from the Spring 2009 collection.

Amanda Bynes is wearing a stunning teal dress with a tiered skirt, but she really needs to work on her angles, that pose is so off.
