Sorry but, why isn’t Penelope Cruz in the clasification of best dressed of the oscars, it’s more than obvious that she was much better than Queen Latifah, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Tilda Swinson, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard… I can’t write them all cause Idon’t want to spend the hole day here, Penelope was one of the best dressed, even I think that if we should do a classification of just 3 actresses Penelope should be there. Please, be more seriouse, just because she’s not such a Hollywood or bollywood product she don’t has to be hide of such this way of your clasification. Thankyou

These are the 10 best dress in accordance to the comments that I read on the best dressed list.

Penelope Cruz is part of Hollywood, I think her Oscar proves that, so your attempt to make this into a race issue is just ridiculous.

Oh and I am VERY serous about my blog.

I was up until 7am working on it, so don’t insult my integrity.

Penelope Cruz is my best dressed with little competition from the others. why is she not included in the poll????

First this: people need to understand, this is the place where only the look wins. Fans of whoever should stop being angry if their beloved star didn´t make it in the best dressed list. DON´T TAKE IT PERSONAL!!!

I am so sorry but I can’t understand why Penelope Cruz is not on the list, she was the best one!

I thought Penelope’s look was fine, but very similar to her look from 2007. Not best-dressed worthy.

I think Marisa’s gown is FABULOUS. She gets my vote.

Second: back to the real stuff.
It was so damn hard to choose!
    1. Marisa, coz her dress is so complicated, and this is what Couture is about. A wonderful piece of work, and she had the guts to wear it, and she did it well
    2. Tilda of course – i could only vote for one :(
    3. Freida – almost as beautiful as Halle.
    4. Halle. who else? – so beautiful! a shame she wasn´t on the red carpet

I really love your blog and religiously read it every single day. It’s the only place I can rely on for a balanced reporting on red carpet fashion.

However, I really do wish you had put Kate Winslet on the list. I know she went for a dark color again and that was frustrating, but she carried herself so beautifully in the dress and it fit her perfectly. Combined with her Grace Kelly hair and she was my pick for best dressed – it reminded me so much of the Golden Days of Hollywood. I think one needs to judge the dress alone and not be clouded by what she has worn in the past.

If JA wins I don’t know how exactly I’ll protest. Yes she’s in a lovely dress, but all that proves is her stylist managed to zip her into the right gown…her lack of any effort w/ her hair totally ruins the look…if I had made the list I’d have substituted Taraji P. Henson, but hey it’s not my list, so I’ll just vote for those you did pick ;)

You are discounting Queen Latfiah purely because she is a larger lady.

Aren’t larger ladies ALLOWED to be fabulous?

Reese Witherspoon’s Rodarte dress would have been MORE fashion forward had she worn the runway version, instead of modifying it so much that it is barely recognisable.

I had said earlier this week that if Kate wore another dark colour she would end up on my worst dressed list. She did, so there was no chance of her making any best dressed list.

Cruz’ best days on the red carpet seem to be over, I have been saying this for weeks now.

This was a better effort from her, but by no way did she deserve to be on the best dressed list. For a start her bangs/fringe was not suited to that dress.

It was hard choosing between Halle and Natalie Portman, but I went with Natalie since her overall look was so breathtaking. I called her best dressed on the red carpet and I still think so. But Halle was so close!

I can’t picture anyone else as best dressed from last night after seeing Leslie Mann in Pamella Roland. SHE WAS HOT!

Too bad you didn't include Penelope Cruz in the pool. She was best dressed in my opinion <3

No, I’m definitely not counting Latifah out because she’s bodacious. Her dress just wasn’t special enough, that’s all. As I’ve said, I adore her, but I’m not willing to say it was one of my fav gowns just because I’m afraid someone is going to say I have something against curvy women.
Not really convinced by the rest of your arguments, but let’s leave it that way. Both of us have better stuff to do, right? Have a rest! :)

I love Marisa Tomei (simply stunning dress and great hairstyle) and Jennifer Aniston was my second best(yes, i’m proud!). Natalie Portman come in third place. Not crazy about Freida and Anne, though I love both them. I also loved Evan Rachel in Elie Saab

people can be so horrible! which i suppose is why they comment as "Anonymous". so silly!
EVERYONE's opinions for best/worst dressed will be different! we're all attracted for different people and different looks.
regardless of what anyone thinks of your picks FC, you are so committed to this blog (i read every day!) and i think we'd all be hard pressed to find another fashion source SO up to date and SO thoroughly organized and put together. you do an amazing job! and i appreciate reading each and every day! so thank you for staying up ALL night! (over in England the Oscars were taking place between something like 1 and 6am!) so that we could see all the dresses and read up on the fashions from the evening.
    xo heather ♥

I think this list looks about right. Penelope was vintage couture and really, she looked great but I think that dress was so beautiful and too easy…anyone could have pulled it off. I mean, it was one of those gowns you see in museums.

Besides, this site is about fashion, in the mode, the current…right?

I’m in the line of the last comment. I’m also a daily reader of the blog and I think that although everyone has its own opinion and taste on the outfits is undoubtable the dedication of FC to the blog.

It is also great to discuss on fashion! is good to have different opinions and styles.

My favourite without doubt is Marisa Tomei (so risky and so successful)

  24. Ling says:

I think people are forgetting that this is FC’s blog, she has her own opinion about who she thought was the Best Dressed and if it doesn’t match yours then fine, but no need to be insulting about it. Obviously there are some people who I thought were better dressed than the ones on this list, but that doesn’t matter, you can still say who you personally thought was the best dressed without being childish about it. Out of this list I chose Marisa, but overall I would have chosen Satsuki Mitchell (pretty random I know!)

  25. Flora says:

Unfortunately it just wasn’t a vintage year for Oscar fashion, just as it wasn’t at the Baftas earlier in the month. There’s nothing really memorable here, nothing that come the end of the year everyone will say, “That’s GOT to be one of the top ten frocks of 2009!”

I think the fact that no-one is really racing ahead in the poll backs up my theory – there’s nothing there that makes you go “wow!”. I voted for Jennifer Aniston, although in retrospect I wish I’d voted for Natalie Portman instead. Although I really feel (shrugs) about the whole damn lot of them, to be honest. The Vanity Fair frocks were MUCH better. Kate Bosworth! Awesome!

FC, this bold comment explains everything you do so well. I was just looking at the People.com best dressed list and could not believe that I found not one but FIVE of my personal worst-dressed on the list: Nicole Kidman, Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum, Jessica Biel, and Beyonce. It is obvious that those sites pander to the stars so they don’t lose out on a story later, and that’s why your site is so fantastic. It’s not about being a fan of anyone in particular, it’s about the styles they wore and what you objectively think about them. It’s really shocking that some people take this so seriously and so personally that they think it’s OK to say such rude things to you.

lmao @ Pram..i cant remember the last time i heard that word used.

Yeah seriously….you may have issues with her choices but there is no need to be insulting. Whats going on? Lately it seems ppl cant handle another person not agreeing with them..they have to take the route of gutter rats.
Lets act like ladies. Its only fashion after all :D

why are people being so mean to FC, she uses her own personal time to make a great site for people to read and learn about FASHION!

how many times does she have to explain the choices came from the most positive comments for each celeb.

personally i loved queen latifah but i voted marion because i thought her dress was stunning.
