After dressing Michelle Obama on inauguration night, Jason Wu’s star has risen considerably, which is why his Fall 2009 collection was at over capacity yesterday.
I didn’t stand a chance of attending this show, which I am informed wasn’t at capacity for the Spring 2009 show.
Everyone was eager to see if Jason would create more magic, and he did.
His usual uptown clients were catered for with sleek, tailored silhouettes for day time, some with black embroidery details. For the evening he presented fairy tale gowns of tulle and chiffon with silver beading and embroidery.
He also presented a gorgeous tiered sky blue number, with vertical Art Deco-style beading, and a dark navy blue heavily embellished gown.
The main accessory was a large silver statement fan necklace, which was presented on both day time and evening pieces.
The colour palette consisted of chartreuse, teal, fuchsia and the current red carpet favourite – electric blue.

It looks nice but it feels very ODLR to me.
Is anyone else picturing Michelle Obama in the dresses? lol
I LOVE the gold embellished dress and the beige tiered dress.
i would love to see michelle obama wearing the grey outfit with the black detail on the shoulders.
I could see Michelle in the chartreuse dress, possibly modified to have a more natural, rather than drop waist.
I loved the looks with polka dots. My fav one, though, is the last gown you put, strapless with the tiered skirt. I’d wear that to the Oscars.
