Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2009

Worst Dressed Award
Debra Messing disappoints me again in a very unflattering Vera Wang gown.

Worst Hair Award
Renee Zellweger walked the red carpet wearing a Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2009 gown, which was modified the runway.

I must admit I love the dress. It’s the poodle hair I just can’t get on board with.

Best Rachel Zoe Impersonation Award
Rachel Zoe cloned Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton. All starlets desperate for attention and fame.

So when I look at Cameron Diaz, I ask WFT happened? She used to have such an athletic body and now she had become a Zobot, with lollypop head, and over-tanned skin.

I am nothing but disturbed by this new look, which is only extenuated in her pink Chanel Fall 2008 Couture asymmetrical gown.

To make matters worst her hair is horrific. Going to the Globes you would have thought Cameron would have had her roots done.

I’m crying inside, crying I tell you.

No Class/Most Obnoxious On The Red Carpet Award
Miley Cyrus was by far the most annoying person to walk the red carpet last night. She was loud and rude. And the worst thing is her parents seemed to be encouraging her.

She was sticking her tongue out, giving the peace sign proving what I always thought. This girl has no class.

Her Marchesa Spring 2009 strapless gown with gold embroidery detail was beyond boring.

Worst Throw Back Award
JLo turned up last night instead of Jennifer Lopez.

Jennifer in this dress takes me back to the time when she was dating Puff Daddy, and wearing ghetto gold, embellished head bands and low cut dresses, like this gold Marchesa Spring 2009 gown.

Biggest Let Down Award
I know many of you will not agree, but I just hate those extra pieces of material on Eva Mendes’ white Dior gown. It does not seem to serve a purpose. It’s not a bow, it’s not a doing anything but just hanging there.

I love everything else, so it kills me to put her on this list.

Worst Couture Award
Freida Pinto made this Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 Couture gown look very ordinary. It looked so magical on the runway.

She completed her look with a Judith Leiber clutch.

Too Casual Award
I really love this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 look on Marisa Tomei, but for me it’s too casual for an event like this.

Worst Gold Award
Megan Fox moaned the whole way through her E! interview about how she looked like a tranny. Obviously fishing for compliments, to boost her already over inflated ego.

For me she really cheapens this Ralph Lauren Spring 2009 gown.

Most Boring Award
Penelope Cruz really seems to have lost her sparkle, even in this Armani Prive gown. There is nothing exciting, nor interesting for me to wow about.

Just Don’t Care Anymore Award
Yes it is an improvement on last year horror show, but I just don’t really care about Blake Lively anymore.

The actress wore a steel blue Nina Ricci gown, that a year ago would have got me excited.

Played It Too Safe Award
Yes Amy Adams always plays it safe, but instead of this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 gown, which is very typical of her style. It would be nice to see something unexpected, with more of a wow factor.

One of the stand out trends of this week, were the bolts of electric blue which we saw on the red carpet.

This is a striking colur, but not in an over-baring way. Unlike a lot of bright colours, this one compliments every skin-tone and hair colours, especially red heads like Amy Adams.

These ladies did not overdo their electric frocks. They picked silver, black and gold accessories to compliment their dresses.

I am off to watch back to back CSI on my Sky+. Back later for the Golden Globes.

For the second time in RCFA history you guys were undecided in who was your Best Dressed of the Week.

It was a hard week, as the celebrities were out to impress. But you picked Anne Hathaway in Gianfranco Ferré and Kate Beckinsale in J. Mendel.

Two very different styles. One was edgy and interesting. The other slightly predictable, and safe, but there is nothing wrong with that, when the end result was how fabulous Kate Beckinsale looked in her gown.

I was memorized by Anne Hathaway in Balmain. It was unexpected and sexy, so she was my pick of the week.

Eva Mendes had an incredible 2008 on the red carpet, so I am glad she has started 2009 with a bang.

The stunning actress looks outstanding wearing a nude Christian Dior Spring 2009 haltered gown.

The keyhole belted gown has crystals embellished on the top half of the dress, and a long flowing skirt.

This is a poke in the ribs for all those who say my girl plays it safe.

Kirsten Dunst was absent from the red carpet for most of 2008, but it looks like during that down time she didn’t lose any of her flair.

Her silk Valentino gown, had a ruffled collar, and a delicate chiffon petal front bib.

Kiki is back, and looking better than ever.

Ali Larter’s black silk Ralph Lauren Spring 2009 gown is simply magnificent. She carries the gown, which has a gold embellished neckline, with both style and grace.

She is a designer’s delight with a lean body and beautiful face. I could not gush about how much I love this enough.

I’m a little disappointed in Kate Bosworth’s pick of this black leaf detailed Nina Ricci Spring 2009 dress.

Olivier Theyskens’ Nina Ricci Spring 2009 collection was full of these short at the front, long at the back dresses, which just didn’t float my boat.

Kate of all people should have made me love it, but even she couldn’t.

Sophia Bush was exquisitely styled in a white strapless Monique Lhuillier gown. Simplicity at its finest, and I don’t think she has ever looked so good.

Her silver jewels perfected this already perfect look.

Joy Bryant wore yellow Missoni maxi dress, with gold accessories.

This girl never gets it wrong.

I don’t know about you, but there is something not quite right about the fit of Nicole Richie’s Jasmine di Milo Spring 2008 dress.

The top half is heavily embroidered, which no doubt would make it quite heavy. So it’s no wonder that the bodice sits quite low down on her.

I can also see her tit-tape, which is never a good thing.

Marisa Tomei practically lives on the red carpet at the moment, but when you’re hot, you’re hot.

Keeping the same hairstyle from her red carpet appearance earlier in the day, the actress changed into this black and white strapless dress.

The dress had a black bow detailing the bodice, and a white chiffon shirt with black script across it.

Rachel Griffiths wear the colour of the moment – electric blue.

Her 50s silk blue cocktail dress from Decades, is matched with a purple Daniel Swarovski clutch and eggplant heels.

Milla Jovovich wears a headband Mischa Barton would approve of, with her black, yellow and white Pucci keyhole gown.

I hate to jump on the Rumer Willis bashing bandwagon, but she really needs to look back at how great she looked during the House Bunny LA premiere, and try to reintroduce that look to the red carpet. Time after time she gets it so wrong.

Nothing is good here.

Courteney Cox Arquette wears an dress that is not black. Shocker.

Amy Smart wears this red Yves Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2008 gown with braided detail on the front, which was worn last year by Nicole Kidman whilst she was pregnant with her first child.

I love the colour on Amy, but the style feels too old for her.

Amber Heard went all out in this blood red Dolce & Gabbana corseted dress.

It is a very bold dress, and I admire her for having the guts to wear it, but the feathered bloodied hem is kinda creepy.

A new year, a new darker ‘do for Brittany Snow.

Her Dolce & Gabbana strapless black corseted dress, makes her hips look wider than I assume they are.

I would have liked to have seen something much more slinkier on Brittany.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a high pony on the red carpet.

Shannen Doherty wears a sheer black dress with white floral appliqués. Not the best dressed, but it works for her.

I have a lot of girl crushes, and actress Freida Pinto is starting sweeping me off my feet with her appearances on the red carpet.

Last night she looked divine wearing a canary yellow Derek Lam Spring 2009 dress, which really makes her glows. Plus I am in total lust with her clutch.

Marisa Tomei keeps it simple wearing a black eyelet dress, which has bow details on the shoulders.

She completes her look with a Fendi Mini Borderline satin clutch and black peep-toes.

I would take Jessica Alba’s D&G PJ’s over this look any day.

What happened to Gemma Arterton?

She went from Balmain, to Preen to this.

Very disappointing. No matter the occasion, I will always appreciated a girl making an effort. Gemma did not on this occasion.
