Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2009

While most people are tighten their belts because of the economic crisis, Victoria Beckham does not know the what the fuss is all about.

This was clear when she showed off her new Hermes Himalayan Birkin – a Christmas present from her hubby David – last week.

What is so special about this bag?

The 30cm crocodile skin Birkin has diamond-studded hardware.

It costs a staggering £80,000/$120,000.

It’s one of only three in the world. The waiting list for the Himalayan is closed – and those already on it have to wait four years.

Although I admire the on VB, the bling is a little too much for me.

Beyonce Knowles’ Dolce & Gabbana black velvet dress was far from boring as she jazzed up with a jeweled belt from the same collection, when she arrived at the LA premiere of Cadillac Records back in November.

The actress/singer wore large gold earrings and black peep-toes to complete her look.

My advice to any actress who wears the same dress as a super star is “wear it better” if you wish to stand out.

Unfortunately this was not the case for actress Leonor Varela when she arrived at the D&G flagship Boutique Opening last month in LA.

Although I loved her clutch, Beyonce’s belt made this dress more interesting so she wins for me.

By now you all know that I love red carpet fashion like Renee love Carolina Herrera, like Charlize loves Dior, and like Carrie Bradshaw loves her Manolo Blahnik’s. So it was my pleasure to stay up until midnight…OK 4.30am trying to decide if I should put Renee in the Best or Worst Dressed list.

This effort did not go unnoticed, as Entertainment Weekly voted my site the Site Of The Day. Yaaayy.

What a great honour. I’m so touched, speechless almost.

*Mini Mexican wave in celebration*

Thanks for the heads up H.

Despite me not loving Eva Mendes’ dress *sheds tear*. I know a lot of you did, so that is why I have added her to this poll.

The winner of this poll come Friday, will be added to the Best Dressed of the Week.

With all the gowns, we did not get to see many shoes, at the Golden Globes, but we did get a peek at Olivia Wilde’s Jimmy Choo Metallic Sandals.

Heidi opted for a black Christian Louboutin multi buckle sandals, that had a very fetish vibe to them.
