Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2009

Beyonce Knowles and Olivia Wilde’s Reem Acra gown was not the only re-run at the Golden Globe Awards.

Salma Hayek was the first to wear this pearl Stella McCartney silk asymmetrical gown, with a beaded detail on the shoulder, when she attended an The Art Of Elysium event during November.

The actress wore her dress, with very questionable headgear.

We saw Amanda Seyfried grace the red carpet on Sunday at the Golden Globe Awards wearing the same gown, which she complimented with a Daniel Swarovski clutch.

As much as I love Salma, this gown suits Amanda’s milky complexion better.

I am sure you will not be surprised to know that this dress is now sold-out on Net-A-Porter.com.

You would be forgiven for thinking Naomi Campbell was kicking the stuffing out of Linda Evangelista, with her fiery tempered reputation. But this editorial is part of the new Dsquared² Spring 2009 advertising campaign.

The campaign was shot by Steven Meisel, with the models clad in slinky black maxis, strappy sandals and chin-strap skull caps.

Fistfighting has never looked so glamorous.

Naomi then goes onto prove, that she is a lover not a fighter, with the final picture in which the two supers lay back after their sparring session.

Long live the supers. May they never wrinkle.

Vogue’s Best Dressed Star of 2008 – I kid you not – Blake Lively graces the cover of their February 2009 edition.

On the cover the Gossip Girl actress wears a black Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 dress, with a yellow sash.

It’s a nice cover, but I can’t help but be curious as to how she looked in full length in the dress.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On how the show ignores the economic recession:: “We live in an alternate universe on the show; it’s a heightened reality, so I don’t think the writers would work that in. They created a show that people can watch after a long day and not have to stress and worry and feel the burdens of real life. It’s just an escape, watching these sparkly lives and just escaping into this other world for an hour.”

On the clothes: “The fashion is just unbelievable. You can watch our show on mute and be entertained. Just being here, walking around, you pick it up really quickly. In New York, you put on skinny jeans and riding boots and a leather coat and handbag, and you take on that posture and character. It becomes very natural.”

On putting her personal touches on Serena’s wardrobe: “The more they work with me and see my style, and the more I learn about fashion, the more input I have. It’s more collaborative now than it was in the beginning because then I had no idea what I was doing.”

It looks like it’s not only Victoria Beckham’s who Spring 2009 advertising campaign was launched today. Katie Holmes’ Miu Miu Spring 2009 campaign was also unveiled.

Katie is wearing one of Miuccia Prada’s graffiti-spattered day dresses, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in New York last November.

If there was a battle of the advertising campaigns, Victoria would win hands down, as hers has more of an impact and a lot more personality.

Here are the first pictures of Victoria Beckham posing for Giorgio Armani’s new lingerie ad campaign.

I think she looks gorgeous. Her body is not too skinny – as I expected – in fact she is very well toned.

Victoria landed the reported £12million, 3 year modeling deal late last year, following in the footsteps of her gorgeous husband David, who posed in his underwear for the same brand.

What you do you guys think?

Me? I love it. Can’t wait to see more.

Malin Akerman was by far the most outstanding at this event wearing a sunshiny yellow Jason Wu Spring 2009 gown.

Jennifer Esposito wowed me in this stunning ivory lace top with 80s shoulder pads, and a black high-waisted skirt both from the Balmain Spring 2009 collection.

I would kill for this look. ? it.

Before you ask, she is wearing a nude bra under her top.

Jessica Stroup wore a navy and black strapless Brian Reyes dress with a pair of gorgeous Manolo Blahnik heels

Garcelle Beauvais looked divine wearing a red rose Tracy Reese Spring 2009 full skirted asymmetrical dress, with matching shoes and a silver diamante clutch.

Sophia Bush was beautiful and statuesque wearing a black Peter Soronen strapless gown, with an amazing Badgley Mischka necklace.

Taylor Momsen’s grungy look kinda ruins this Christian Dior Spring 2008 fringed gown. Her hair tied back would have made her look so elegant.

Emma Stone wore a Cynthia Steffe Spring 2009 keyhole gown, with a tiered skirt and gold accents.

Ginnifer Goodwin’s Talbot Runhof liquid dress, is not something we are used to seeing on the red carpet. The dress is really interesting, with it gathered skirt and interest used of material.

She completes her look with a Daniel Swarovski silver clutch and pink nails.

Kristen Bell gets back to her best wearing a orange Etro gown.

I must admit I love this electric blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2008 Couture gown on Paris Hilton. I also much prefer Paris with shorter hair.

Sarah Chalke’s plunging taupe satin dress, looks so buttery against her skin.

Amanda Bynes opted out of wearing a gown, and wore this white embellished dress, with gold strappy heels.

Emma Roberts wears a very LBD, with lust-worthy black Pour La Victoire Bianca cutout platform booties.

The unofficial Missoni brand ambassador, Joy Bryant wears a other knitted pieces from their Fall 2008 collection.

Molly Sims opted for a very romantic look with her Diane von Furstenberg floral maxi dress and loose curls.

Brittany Snow kinda strikes out in this gown for me. For one so young, this is quite boring despite being designed by Leanna Marshall for DVF.

Emily Deschanel lights up the red carpet, in this orange dress, which she accessorized with a gold belt.
