The Chanel Spring 2009 Haute Couture collection was a vision in pure white, with the occasional dash of black breaking up the ethereal theme.
The traditional Chanel suit was reworked in new fabrics, with sequins, PVC, appliqué and delicate embroidery taking over from the expected bouclé.
Karl Lagerfeld presented a-lines and square shouldered shapes. Skinny pants, shrinking jackets, cropped sleeves, and fantasy gowns.

The paper rosette headpieces were simply divine, and provided the perfect finishing touch.
The venue was covered in tumbling organza, appliqué flowers and gigantic paper blooms to set the ethereal tone at the Chanel show.
We are not used to seeing a lot of white on the red carpet, so I would be interested in seeing who would wear these pieces.

Olga Kurylenko was back to her breath-taking best wearing a tailored white skirt, and a sleeveless black sweater, with stunning statement necklace. All Chanel of course.

Sporting fresh cut bangs, Keira Knightley – the face of Coco Mademoiselle – was also head to toe in Chanel.
She looks gorgeous wearing a fabulous tweed skirt, a black sweater and studded heels.
Tres Chic.

I don’t like those short shoulder sleeves, they look weird on women and they make their shoulders wider and that’s not how a girl should look.
I’m sure we’ll see many modified versions from this collection as the outfits are stunning without that upper part. I can’t see any of them at the Oscars though, maybe a modified version of the last one in the 1st row.
Electra.
En france, ce défilé un vrai succes!

Surprisingly for a Chanel couture collection, this one was full of wearable pieces, so much better then the ss! I agree that it was just an ethereal vision in white, even the white nail polish stood out and i was so happy that Freja was the “bride”, for the second time. She was simply stunning and the headpiece when she closed, even if it looked so heavy, was just the perfect frame to her perfect face.
Yesterday, Lagerfeld was on a french TV show and explained that because of the economic crisis, he wanted go back to something simple and pure.
It's fabulous.
Karl Lagerfeld is simply a genius.
& I'm in love Keira Knightley's studded heels.
