When Herve Leger first had its revival everyone jumped on the bandwagon. That was in 2007, a year later, and we are officially o.v.e.r the body-con dresses, mostly because they are everywhere and everyone from Catherine Zeta Jones to Heidi Montag is wearing them.

Despite the overload, there have been some great Herve Leger dresses on the red carpet this year.

My personal favourites were worn by Rachel Bilson and Kirsty Gallacher. Rachel’s dress gave her a fantastic figure we did not even know she had, and Kirsty’s for the bold colours, and how the dress showed off her athletic frame.

Just because it was the most worn brand of 2008, this did not make it a good thing. Some bodies are not made for Herve dresses, Mischa Barton and Michelle Ryan proved that.

We also knew that we were over Herve dresses when The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Audrina Patridge started wearing them.

Rosettes, contrast straps, blocks of colour, high necklines, respected actresses jumping on the bandwagon a year too late Herve Leger were all no no’s in my book.

i hope for the love of god, that there will not be so many herve leger dresses on the red carpet next year, they are just getting boring and really predictable.

To me it’s 3 different cattegories: the bad, the very bad and the burn this. My new year’s fashion wish is that Hervé Léger dresses disappear.

I’m actually surprised you didn’t include Jenny McCarthy in “The Good” ones. I’m talking about the beige Herve Leger dress she wore earlier this year.

I was gonna, but that was too predictable. And I hate being predictable, so I showed others instead.

Agreed with Leo. I’m starting to think there’s an (un)written rule for every celeb that they have to wear a Herve Leger at least once. I’m just glad actresses like Rachel Weisz and Kate Winslet ticked that off this year and hopefully won’t wear it ever again.
Rachel Bilson was definitely the best. So good that it almost doesn’t even LOOK like Herve Leger. LOL

Btw, forgot to share my Best Dressed list. (It’s 11 instead of 10, though. I couldn’t decide between Lily and Bee, so I left them both on. And sorry for the crappy visual. My PC crashed recently and I still didn’t re-install Photoshop.) I’m aware that my list is a bit unusual, but oh well… I had the hardest time with Natalie, Maggie and Diane, I had 2 looks for each of them I equally loved. I excluded looks/dresses that were on your and/or readers’ list that would be on mine too, just because that was the easiest way to start narrowing it down ’cause there were like 30 looks I started off with at first. That’s it.

thanks for sharing your list. There was a lot of surprises in there- Maggie G – but it just goes to show that no top 10 list will ever be the same

i LOVE these dresses but i too got tired of seeing them on everyone and their mother
i love the ones Joss and Mischa are wearing just not on them.
I hope to god next year we’ll only see them on actual celebrities who could pull them off like Catherine Zeta Jones and Kate Winslet who were probably my favorites who wore Herve

hope all is well, and best wishes for 2009!

here’s to more red carpet! and hope you’ll feature more men on the red carpet and sidewalk too!

They’re boring and I don’t even think they’re that flattering.. They remind me too much of these cheap body-hugging dresses in synthetic fabrics they sell in shops I avoid that I can’t stand…

No problem. :) I was surprised myself at having Maggie on the list (I also loved her in modified Dries Van Noten at The Dark Knight premiere!) because I didn’t find her that fashionable, this year at least. She’s had a lot of misses. But I guess I didn’t make a list of PEOPLE I personally favor or thought they had an overall good red carpet year (or else Jessica Alba and Lily Allen wouldn’t be there!) but particular outfits that those celebs looked great in, in my opinion.
And oh, forgot to mention in my original comment… but they are in NO particular order. I just put the pics of those 11 randomly. ;)
