Elie Saab’s Fall 2008 Couture collection was presented this week. Elie is a favourite with A-listers such as Beyonce Knowles and Kerry Washington to Middle Eastern princesses. There were a few sparkles on a few pieces, but not as much bling as Beyonce would have hoped for.

The Lebanese designer created a couture collection full of wonderfully breath-taking gowns.

The colour palette was for his collection were browns, reds, blue, and pinks.

All of the model sported classy chignons as they walked the runway in silk, taffeta, tulle and chiffon gowns.

He emphasised waists with giant bows, shoulders were detailed with ruffles, and there were many floor-sweeping trains to add something extra special for those red carpet moments.

Somali-born model Yasmin Warsame wore some of the best gowns from this collection (especially the middle one).

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2008 Couture collection started with some very muted pieces of grey, brown and black. Then the ensembles became more and more dramatic, and more colourful with cobalt blue, neon yellow, orange and green.

The dramatic pieces had a lot of construction in form of cages. Models walked the runway in caged capes, caged dresses and even a caged veil at the end.

The theme was a mix of equestrian and marine life.

i love that you had a seperate category for yasmin warsame in the elie saab show. when i looked through the collction i too agree that she wore the best dresses and she was one of (if not the most) the best looking models walking. she looked sooooo good. i love elie saab to no end. :D

the gaultier show was dissapointing to me after seeing chanel and dior and elie saab and valentino. i pretty much loved almost all of the couture shows…i actually didn’t see the entire gaultier show yet, but from what you’ve shown i wouldn’t wore most of those things. the green caged gown looks interesting though. and you never know, sometimes in editorials they style outlandish clothes really well and i find myself pining after something i thought was hideous on the runway.

Jean-Paul Gaultier is usually a little too wacky for me and this colletion is no exception. On the other hand, <3 <3 <3 Elie Saab! I was really looking forward to seeing the new collection and it did not disappoint. The dark red one on Yasmine is my favourite. I like the decorations and the colour.

I love Eli Sab! Though the bling will be missed … My favourite is the strapless dress on the far right of the strapless section, although they’re all gorgeous!

I heart gaultier and all his drama!! This collection is simply exquisite and that grey suit is to DIE for… would LOVE to see Cate Blanchett in that. Same goes for Gwyneth Paltrow in the pink cage dress, and Dita in the little jockey number second from left… I don’t know if she’d do the jodphur/knickerbocker look, but she’d look fab in them!!
