Elie Saab’s Fall 2008 Couture collection was presented this week. Elie is a favourite with A-listers such as Beyonce Knowles and Kerry Washington to Middle Eastern princesses. There were a few sparkles on a few pieces, but not as much bling as Beyonce would have hoped for.
The Lebanese designer created a couture collection full of wonderfully breath-taking gowns.
The colour palette was for his collection were browns, reds, blue, and pinks.
All of the model sported classy chignons as they walked the runway in silk, taffeta, tulle and chiffon gowns.
He emphasised waists with giant bows, shoulders were detailed with ruffles, and there were many floor-sweeping trains to add something extra special for those red carpet moments.
Somali-born model Yasmin Warsame wore some of the best gowns from this collection (especially the middle one).

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2008 Couture collection started with some very muted pieces of grey, brown and black. Then the ensembles became more and more dramatic, and more colourful with cobalt blue, neon yellow, orange and green.
The dramatic pieces had a lot of construction in form of cages. Models walked the runway in caged capes, caged dresses and even a caged veil at the end.
The theme was a mix of equestrian and marine life.
